Frequently Answered Questions


Q: When does the season begin?

A: Opening day is March 3rd.  It’s our kickoff party to the season with a parade, games, food, music and team photos.  It’s a lot of fun, so plan to spend the day at Opening Day!


Q: What are all the divisions and what are the age groups?

A: Pre-TBall is for 3-4 year olds

    T-Ball is for 5-6 year olds

    Coach Pitch is for 7-8 year olds

    Minors is for 9-10 year olds

    Majors is for 11-12 year olds

     Juniors is for 13-15 year olds


Q: When are games?

A: Pre-Tbal and T-Ball always play on Saturday’s.  Coach Pitch, Minors, Majors and Juniors play 1 game during the week and 1 game on Saturdays.  (We may have some interleague games played on Sunday’s vs. other local league(s) except Pre-T Ball)


Q: When are the week games played?

A: Games could be played on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday depening on division and our final schedule


Q: When is the “Final Schedule” made available?

A: We typically draft teams in early February, so expect a final schedule to be available by mid to late February.


Q: What do you mean “draft teams”?  What is a draft?

A: A Draft is when coaches select players based on their evaluated rankings. For Coach Pitch to Juniors level, we keep score and the games are more competitive.  We draft players based on their skill level to make sure teams are evenly balanced.  ForPre T and T-Ball, kids are paired with kids from their schools or requests for friends to be paired together.


Q: When do we learn what team we are on?

A: Typically by the first two weeks of February


Q: When do teams practice?

A: Teams begin to practice in mid February and the day/time of the week is dependent on the schedule of the coach.


Q: How many times a week do teams practice?

A: Pre-T has no weekday practices, T Ball usually has 1 practice per week, Coach Pitch to Juniors level practice 1-2 times per week or more depending on the coach and the needs of the team.


Q: Are all practices at Knapp Ranch Baseball?

A: Most practices are at Knapp Ranch Baseball, however, in some cases your coach may elect to meet at a batting cage or park/field outside of Knapp Ranch.  This happens often at the beginning of the season when our fields may still be closed before opening day. 


Q: Who are the coaches?  Who runs Knapp Ranch?

A: Knapp Ranch is a nonprofit organization called “Parents of Knapp Ranch Baseball”.  We are parent volunteers and survive on the efforts of parents like you.  So please help out where and how ever you can.  Some parents chose to donate (tax deductible), some parents help with snack shack, some parents assist the coaches, some parents coach and umpire.  The more we all contribute, the better our program will be
